A surgical procedure known as laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery (LECS) combines laparoscopic partial gastrectomy and endoscopic submucosal dissection. Close cooperation between trained laparoscopic surgeons and knowledgeable endoscopists is necessary for LECS. Gastric submucosal tumors without epithelial lesions, especially gastrointestinal stromal tumors, were the main indications for the development of LECS (GISTs).
