Dr. Omer Senbaklavaci is a Lead Surgeon of Lung Transplant Program in University Medical Center Freiburg, Germany. He also served as a Director for Lung Transplant Program at Acibadem University, Turkey (Nov 2015- Oct 2016). He was a Chair of Thoracic Surgical Division and Head of Lung Transplant Program, Consultant Thoracic at Universitätsmedizin Mainz, Germany (June 2009- May 2014). He was a consultant Thoracic and Transplant Surgeon in The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Freeman Hospital. He has the Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeon of England. He trained in Vienna, Austria and in Bochum, Germany. He was the Surgical Lead of the Lung Transplant Program at Freeman Hospital. His first appointment as Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon in Klagenfurt, Austria 2004-2009. He had a special interest in minimally invasive lung transplantation and lung preservation which gained 2011 National Thoracic Surgical Price of the German Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery with his experimental study.
